Commissioner James V. Bocchino retired in 2004 as landfill manager and liaison/security/operations manager at the Bergen County Utilities Authority. Previously he was supervisor of inspectors in the Solid Waste Division at the NJMC. Before working for the NJMC, Commissioner Bocchino owned Dunn’s Liquors and Deli and JB’s Lounge, both in North Arlington, and was a carpenter for the Bloomfield Carpenters and Millwrights Local #1342.

 

Commissioner Bocchino is a former member and vice chairman of the North Arlington Board of Adjustment and former commissioner of the North Arlington Redevelopment Authority. He is president of the North Arlington Italian American Club, a former member and officer of the North Arlington Chapter of UNICO and a former member of the North Arlington Elks Lodge. He is a North Arlington Republican County Committeeman and a member and former chairman of the North Arlington Republican Club.

Commissioner Bocchino received many honors recognizing his community service efforts, including UNICO’s Man of the Year Award, the 36th Legislative District Citizen Community Service Award and the Bergen County Freeholders Certificate of Commendation. His volunteer activities have also been honored by the North Arlington Recreation Department, the North Arlington Fire Department, the North Arlington Mayor and Council, and Hands of North Arlington, an organization that assists people with special needs. Commissioner Bocchino was the founder and president of the James Bocchino Association, a community group that was dedicated to helping those in need.  

Commissioner Bocchino lives in North Arlington with his wife, Linda. They have three daughters and nine grandchildren.
