ZONING OFFICER
The NJMC seeks motivated candidates for the position of Zoning Officer to assist with the enforcement of District zoning regulations in accordance with the NJMC Master Plan. Duties and responsibilities include performing daily site inspections throughout the District, preparing written inspection reports, violation notices and correspondence related to violations of District zoning regulations. Candidates must be able to provide information to the general public concerning property history and regarding District zoning regulations. Additional responsibilities include maintaining necessary logs and records of all site visits and activities using the NJMC’s CityView database.
Qualified candidates must have a high school diploma (or equivalent), and must possess a valid driver’s license, a satisfactory driving record, and have the ability to operate a 4WD vehicle. Prior experience in construction or zoning related work is preferred. Good organizational and communication skills are necessary. Additionally, candidates must be able to use standard office equipment (i.e., computer, two-way radio, digital camera) climb, traverse rough terrain, lift moderate weight and withstand exposure to inclement weather.

SOLID WASTE PROJECT ENGINEER
The NJMC seeks motivated candidates for the position of Solid Waste Project Engineer. This position will be responsible for providing engineering design, project management, contract administration, review of shop drawings, and construction supervision for the Commission’s Solid Waste department. Other responsibilities include the preparation and administration of RFQs and RFPs, overview of the public bidding process, coordination with State and Federal agencies regarding permits, and the supervision of field personnel. Responsibilities shall also include operation and supervision of numerous leachate pumping stations and pretreatment systems and solid waste landfill engineering, including hands on field work. This is an opportunity to get real world experience on operating systems that you will have helped design.
Qualified candidates must have an undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering and a minimum of five years experience in various aspects of civil engineering including experience in the design and operation of pumping stations. In addition, candidates should also have prior experience with contract administration and possess a basic knowledge of structural engineering for simple designs or review of structural drawings prepared by others. Candidates must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications and AutoCAD, and be able to multitask effectively. Good human relations, organizational, administrative, and written communication skills are essential.
