PUBLIC RECORDS (OPRA):

The State of New Jersey’s Open Public Records Act (OPRA) became law on July 7, 2002 and was created to expand the public’s access to government records and to facilitate the way in which access is provided.  It is the public policy of New Jersey that government records must be readily accessible for inspection, copying, or examination by its citizens, with certain exceptions, for the protection of the public.  Requests must be made in writing to the Records Custodian through a Government Records Request Form.
