Introduction

The NJMC Office of Sustainability was established to oversee creation and implementation of regional policies regarding renewable energy, measures in energy efficiency, and green building in the Meadowlands District, and to serve in a consultancy capacity to Meadowlands municipalities in growing these and other strategies for a sustainable future.

These efforts are highlighted by:
the development of a 700 kW startup solar array on NJMC property
• technical assistance to municipalities in drafting RFPs for their own solar arrays
• membership with ICLEI Local Governments for Sustainability to assist municipalities
   in developing climate action strategies
• development of an Energy Master Plan with Rutgers University
the implementation of voluntary incentives for developers who build projects to Leadership
   in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) standards.
