Marinas & Boat/Canoe Launch Facilities

The Hackensack River remains the central spine of the Meadowlands District. The Commission sees the river as a vehicle for education: it teaches us about our environment and our history. Getting people out on the river is an important objective of the Commission…and it is fun!

There are several private boating facilities in the District located in Carlstadt, Little Ferry and Secaucus. Each of these commercial facilities offers varying amounts of boat storage, slips, repair facilities and public launch areas. The Hackensack River Public Boat Launch at the Hudson County Park at Laurel Hill is a public boat launch. This facility provides seating areas, an information shelter, parking for tow vehicles and linkage to the County Park’s waterfront promenade. It is part of the Secaucus Greenway. North of this boat launch also in Secaucus is Mill Creek Point Park, a 3-acre public park built by the NJMC and maintained by the Town of Secaucus. Canoes, kyacks and other small craft can launch and explore Mill Creek Marsh, a 209-acre marsh where visitors may see Green-winged Teals, Tree Swallows, and many other species of wildlife with the New York City skyline as their backdrop.

For more information on any of the boat launches listed go to our parks section.
