Introduction

Renewable energy is a clean alternative to coal and petroleum, and reduces the emissions of harmful gases such as carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides. Environmental and economic benefits, combined with the NJMC's unique position to act as a regional facilitator, are perfectly aligned to make real strides in pursuing Governor Corzine's goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions under the State's Global Warming Response Act. Through the Office of Sustainability, the NJMC will offer technical assistance to municipalities and school boards to draft RFP's to develop solar arrays. The agency is pursuing a goal of 20 Megawatts of renewables and energy efficiency in the Meadowlands District by the year 2020. For more information, contact (201) 460-2002.
