Green Building
The NJMC is bringing its administrative offices and the Meadowlands Environment Center up to green building standards, and seeking a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold rating for the new Meadowlands Center for Environmental and Scientific Education. As a leader in advancing environmentally responsible construction and management practices, the NJMC has also adopted a series of voluntary incentives for developers building green projects. The NJMC is working with Rutgers University Center for Green Building to conduct new research on green buildings, and disseminating reports and data available through the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs Green Building Task Force. Several LEED-trained NJMC staff members serve as consultants and informational resources to municipalities interested in green projects.
